"Salvaged and Gilded" 16" x 20" Gesso, mixed media, collage on canvas
What I can say about this piece is that, yes, it's funny. And that's part of what I like about it. It doesn't take itself so seriously. But I'm not just trying to be ironic. There's something more here.
In a recent critique, I received the following feedback, "this piece needs an entire wall." This painting feels like a vortex, pulling into it one part of life, stirring up my nostalgia, and then pushing it back onto the other side as a white-washed memory touched with a golden seal of approval.
